Music
I've been playing the Zimbabwean marimba for most of my life. For a little taste of what it looks and sounds like, here's a video from several years ago of me playing with my old band:
The marimba is not meant to be played alone. It's an ensemble instrument, and a typical ensemble has between 5 and 7 instruments of various shapes and sizes (from soprano to bass). Each part is individually simple; together, they make something greater than the sum of their parts. This makes teaching and playing marimba during a pandemic something of a challenge.
Although I'm not currently offering in-person lessons, I'm happy to record and share individual parts or even whole songs. If you're interested in this wonderful music, contact me by email or the form below and I'll let you know when I'm teaching and/or performing again.
